EMMA SCHAFER is a long-time public affairs professional and veteran observer of the Los Angeles political scene. A Los Angeles native, Emma has worked in both the public and private sectors, including state government, local government and political campaigns. Since 1987, she has been the owner of her own consulting business specializing in issue management, government relations, special events and media relations. In addition, she is also director of the Los Angeles Current Affairs Forum, which she founded more than 20 years ago.
The Forum is a gathering place for decision-makers from across the Los Angeles area who come together regularly to hear about and discuss policy and politics with key officials – both elected and appointed. These forums have been a key place for public officials to engage in an informal dialogue with a cross-section of business and community leaders, including attorneys, consultants, engineers, architects, labor officials, trade and non-profit association executives as well as senior public sector staff members.
“Emma’s Memos” is intended to be a reflection of Emma’s interest and experience in politics, policy and people, both at the local level and also elsewhere throughout the state, across the U.S. and beyond.
